Ancient Corinth was an important city-state of the ancient Peloponnese. It was inhabited since the Neolithic years (5000-3000 BC). The city survived and occasionally developed in all historical periods until 1822. It controlled the strategic location of the Isthmus and was an important commercial hub and was considered the richest city of the ancient world. It is worth visiting the Archaeological Museum, the Archaeological Site, the Temple of Apollo and the Acrocorinth Castle.
